trying to replace a straight male pipe end on my -06 hose, is this the right one with 1/4-18 threads?

You are looking at a straight steel crimp fitting that mates to a -06 hose and has a 1/4-18 male NPTF pipe thread on the other end. If your old end is 1/4-18 male NPTF and it crimps onto -06 hose, that matches the key sizing on this fitting.

fitting says no mandrel needed, does that mean i can crimp this straight onto a -06 hose without any extra tooling inside the hose end?

Correct, no mandrel is required for this fitting. That simplifies the crimp process quite a bit since you're not having to source or seat a separate internal component before crimping. Just prep your -06 hose end and crimp directly using compatible tooling for the 1A series. It keeps the assembly process cleaner and cuts down on steps at the bench.
