we got a setup that sees some sudden pressure spikes every now and then. is this fitting alright for that kind of system?

Sudden pressure spikes or shock hazards mean you should actually use the H277 or H435 options instead. For standard low and medium pressure hydraulic applications without those sudden shocks, these steel crimp fittings work perfectly.

Those two hose types are specifically called out for environments where shock hazards exist. For general-purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic applications, this is a -12 hose fitting, so compatibility comes down to whether your hose matches that size and the system falls within low to medium pressure range. The H277 and H435 callout is guidance for shock-prone setups, not a restriction that excludes all other -12 hoses in standard conditions.
