fitting says no mandrel or thread sealant needed, is that right for a metric flare like this, or do i need to do something extra to get a good seal?

For a 24-degree flare connection like this one, the sealing happens at the flare face itself, so thread sealant would actually work against you. The M22 x 1.5 male thread mates with the DIN 3902 flare geometry to create a metal-to-metal seal without any additional compound. No mandrel is needed on the hose end either. Just make sure your crimp is done right and the fitting is torqued to spec, which runs 55 to 70 lb/ft for this fitting.

got a -08 hose on the bench, will this fitting crimp onto it and what thread is on the end?

It is built for -08 hose and it’s a straight steel crimp fitting for 1 and 2 wire braid hose. The threaded end is M22 x 1.5 male, German DIN 3902 24 degree flare light duty.
