got a 1/2-14 nptf male port but my gauge line is 3/8-18 nptf female, is this the right bushing to step it down?

For that thread combo, yes. It is a steel pipe-to-pipe bushing with 1/2-14 male NPTF on one end and 3/8-18 female NPTF on the other, so it adapts a 1/2-14 female NPTF port down to accept a 3/8-18 male NPTF fitting.

i got a valve body with 1/2 npt on it, but the gauge i’m trying to run is 3/8 npt. is this the bushing that’ll step it down?

For that kind of size change, yes. This is a 2081 Series steel reducer adapter with 1/2-14 male NPT on the outside and 3/8-18 female NPT on the inside, so it lets you go from a 1/2 NPT female port down to a 3/8 NPT male connection.
