Function-wise, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a straight reducer adapter that goes from a 9/16-18 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel on one side to a 7/16-20 male JIC 37 degree flare on the other.

That's what this adapter does. It connects a 9/16-18 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel on one end to a 7/16-20 male JIC 37 degree flare on the other, straight configuration.
