trying to match up a hose end, is this the straight DKO female swivel with M22 x 1.5 threads for a -08 hose?

You’re looking at a straight crimp fitting with an M22 x 1.5 female German DIN 3902 24 degree flare heavy duty swivel, built for a -08 hose size. It also calls out a 27 mm female end.

fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose, does that mean it won't crimp onto other wire braid hoses, or is that just what they recommend?

Those two hose types are what this fitting is rated and tested for, so that's where you've got reliable, confirmed compatibility. Using it with other wire braid hoses outside those specs isn't something the fitting is validated for, and you'd be outside the intended application. If your setup runs H277 or H435, you're in good shape with this one.
