does this fitting work with H277 hose in a setup where there's some shock load involved, or is that pushing it for this type of crimp fitting?

H277 is actually one of the hoses called out specifically for shock hazard applications with this fitting, so you're in good shape there. H435 is the other compatible option if your system calls for it. Just make sure you're working within the general-purpose low and medium pressure range this fitting is built for.
