what's the corrosion resistance like on this fitting? got some pretty rough conditions where it'll be running

Carbon steel construction with Dura-Kote plating handles corrosion better than standard uncoated fittings of the same material. That plating is specifically there to hold up where moisture and environmental exposure are a concern, so for tough shop or field conditions it's a solid choice within its general purpose pressure range.

i got -8 hose on the truck, does this fitting match that dash size or am i mixin things up

Match-up wise, it calls out a -8 hose dash size, so it’s intended to be used on a -8 hose assembly.
