Will this fitting hold up okay in a hydraulic system where there might be some shock?

This Aeroquip fitting is made for general-purpose low to medium pressure hydraulic applications, particularly where shock hazards are a concern. Using H277 or H435 hoses with it would be a good idea in those situations.

Got a -08 hose on a piece of equipment and need a 45-degree elbow with a G 1/2 female BSP swivel end. this the right fitting for that?

That's what this one's built for. It's a 45-degree elbow crimp fitting with a G 1/2 female BSPP swivel on one end and a -08 hose connection on the other. Both end sizes measure 0.5, so as long as your hose matches the -08 sizing, you're in good shape. No mandrel needed for installation either, which keeps the assembly pretty straightforward.
