i’ve got a hose end that’s 9/16-18 JIC, is this the straight adapter that’ll screw into a 1/4-18 female pipe port?

That's the use case this part covers. One end threads into a 1/4-18 female NPT port, and the other end is a 9/16-18 male JIC with the standard 37-degree flare seat. Straight configuration, so there's no angle change in the line. Eaton Aeroquip makes these to tight tolerances, and the 2022 series is a well-established line for exactly this kind of pipe-to-flare transition.
