trying to hook a 1/8 pipe swivel up to a regular 1/8 male pipe thread, is this the right adapter?

For a pipe to pipe connection, it matches 1/8-27 threads on both ends with a female NPSM swivel on one side and a male NPTF on the other, in a straight steel adapter.

Food and beverage processing is one of the listed applications for this adapter, along with marine, military, chemical processing, pulp and paper, and offshore drilling. So a food processing environment is squarely within what this fitting was built to handle. The swivel design on the female end is the NPSM internal pipe thread, and the male end runs standard NPTF external pipe thread, both in 1/8-27 sizing.

Yes, this Eaton Aeroquip adapter has a 1/8-27 Male NPT end, so it'll connect to any standard female 1/8-27 NPT port. Just be sure to use pipe sealant.
