fitting says no mandrel required, that accurate? just want to make sure before I go hunting for one

Correct, no mandrel is needed for installation. The torque spec runs between 33 and 40 lb/ft, so as long as you hit that range during makeup you're good to go. Straightforward install compared to some of the more involved crimp fittings out there.
