trying to match up a hose end, is this one the straight G 5/8 female BSP swivel for a -08 hose?

The ends on this part are a G 5/8 Female BSPP swivel on the connection side and a -08 hose size on the crimp side, and it’s a straight fitting.

fitting says no mandrel needed - is that actually true or do i still need one for a proper crimp?

No mandrel required with this one. The TTC series from Eaton Aeroquip is built so the crimp goes directly onto the hose without that extra step. Works with -08 hose size, and the straight configuration keeps the install pretty clean and straightforward.
