does this fitting work as a permanent crimp connection or can it be adjusted after install

Once it's crimped, that's it. There's no adjustability built into this fitting, so make sure your hose length and routing are right before you commit. It's meant to stay put, which is exactly what you want in a high-demand line where you can't afford a connection working itself loose over time.
