what's the thread size on both ends of this nipple, and are they the same?

Both ends are 1/8 inch NPTF male threads, so yes, you're getting a matching male-to-male configuration on each side. The overall length runs 1-1/2 inches, which gives you a bit of reach when you need to bridge two female ports that sit a little further apart than a standard short nipple would cover.
