Reckon this would hold up on a hydraulic system running at 5500 psi?

Rated to handle dynamic pressures up to 6,000 psi, this adapter should work fine in your setup.

trying to hook a JIC line to a 1/8 NPTF port. is this the right straight adapter for that?

For that kind of hookup, it matches a male JIC SAE 37 degree flare on one end (7/16-20, SAE J514) and a male NPTF on the other end (1/8-27, SAE J476). It is a straight steel adapter in the Brennan 2404 series.
