got a -08 hose here, does this fitting match up as a straight male pipe end?

fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose, does that mean it won't hold up on other hose types, or is that just a recommendation for shock situations?

Those two hose types are specifically called out for use where shock hazards are present. The fitting itself is rated for general purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic applications, so it can be used in standard setups. The H277 and H435 callout is about handling shock loads safely, not a hard restriction on every other hose in normal service conditions.
