got a 3/8 inch tube i need to make a flareless connection on, this the right ferrule for that?

For a 3/8-inch tube, yes, that's exactly what this ferrule is built around. The B dimension on this part is 0.38 inches, so it matches up with your tube size. Just make sure your tubing isn't harder than Rockwell B65, and note that stainless steel tubing isn't approved for use with this ferrule. Cut the tube square within plus or minus one degree, deburr inside and out, lube the mating surfaces, and you're good to go with assembly.
