tool don't have any blades on it right? just want to make sure before i order cause we've had issues with blade-style tools nicking our fittings

No blades involved with this one. The STC release tool is built without them, which is part of what makes it hold up better over time and keeps it safer to handle during disconnection work. You won't have to worry about that kind of fitting damage with this tool.

got a handful of STC snap-to-connect hoses that are a bear to get apart. is this the right tool for releasing those fittings?
