Got a quarter-inch tube I need to hook up flareless style, this ferrule gonna work for that, or do I need something different?

For a 0.25 inch OD tube going flareless, this is exactly the right fit. It's part of the Eaton Aeroquip FF9605 Series and seats against a standard JIC 37 degree flare body. One thing worth knowing upfront, the tubing you're using can't exceed Rockwell B65 hardness, and stainless steel tubing is not approved for use with this style fitting. Keep those two things in mind and you're good to go.

got a 1/4 tube here. is this ferrule the right size or am i mixin up the numbers

For a 0.25 inch tube O.D., this ferrule matches that size. The tube size called out for it is 0.25 inch, so it is meant to sleeve onto quarter inch tubing during assembly.
