Got a -04 hose I'm trying to terminate, and the fitting I had on hand didn't work out. This one a straight male STC crimp for that size?

straight male STC on a -04 hose is exactly what this fitting is built for. It's part of the Eaton Aeroquip 1A Series Match Mate line, and the STC connection here is a Type II+ Snap To Connect design. The crimp end matches -04 hose, so if your previous fitting was a mismatch that's likely why it gave you trouble.
