does this fitting work without a mandrel, or do i need special tooling to crimp it?

No mandrel required for this one. The crimp process works directly on 1 and 2 wire braid steel hose without any mandrel setup, which cuts down on the prep work and tooling you need on hand. Just make sure you're working with a -10 hose and you're good to go.

Will this fitting work with a standard -10 hydraulic hose? Just wanna make sure before I order.

It is indeed made to work with -10 hoses. Eaton Aeroquip designed it specifically for that size.
