Trying to match up a replacement, is this fitting a straight male O-ring face seal with 1-3/16-12 threads for a -12 hose?

You are looking at a straight male ORS end with 1-3/16-12 threads on one side, and it is made to crimp onto a -12 hose on the other side.

got a -12 hose in the shop, will this fitting crimp onto it or am i barkin up the wrong tree

It’s made for -12 hose and it’s a 1A Series crimp fitting meant for 1 and 2 wire braid steel hose. The compatibility called out is Eaton H277 or H435 hose, so it’s a match when you’re using one of those hose families in -12.

fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose -- does that mean it won't crimp onto other -12 hoses even if they're the same size?

Correct. This crimp fitting is rated specifically for H277 and H435 hoses in -12 size. Using it on a different hose construction, even one that measures out the same, can affect crimp integrity and seal performance. Stick with those two hose types to stay within the intended application.
