trying to replace a straight fitting i pulled off a -06 hose, does this one match up with a 1/2-14 male npt swivel end?

Match it up by the two key callouts. It is built for a -06 hose size and the thread is 1/2-14 on a male NPTF swivel end, in a straight configuration.

So this fitting works for hydraulic systems, but is it okay for, like, my log splitter?

This fitting is designed for general purpose, low to medium pressure hydraulic applications, which would include some log splitters. Just make sure your system pressure falls within its intended range.

fitting says it works with -06 hose -- does that mean it'll work on both 1 and 2 wire braid hose or just one of em?

Both, actually. The TTC line from Eaton Aeroquip covers 1 and 2 wire braid hose in the same fitting family, so this one handles either construction at the -06 size. That's part of what makes the TTC series practical for shops that stock different hose types.
