got a -04 hose and need a straight male pipe swivel end, is this the right crimp fitting or am i off a size?

For a -04 hose, this fitting matches that hose size and it’s a straight 1/4-18 male NPTF swivel on the threaded end. End size is listed as 0.25 on both sides, so it lines up with a 1/4 inch NPTF male swivel connection going into your port.

fitting says it works with 1 and 2 wire braid hose, does that mean i can use the same fitting on either type without buying something different for each?

Correct, one fitting covers both. The 1AA4PS4 is built to crimp onto both 1 wire and 2 wire braid steel hose in the -04 hose size, so you're not locked into a separate part number depending on which braid configuration you're running. Just make sure your hose is -04 and steel braid, and you're good with either construction.
