will this crimp fitting work on -06 hose that's got 2 wire braid construction?

Absolutely, that's exactly what it's built for. Works with both single wire braid and 2 wire braid -06 hose. The steel crimp design gives you a solid, permanent connection that'll handle the higher pressures you get with 2 wire construction.

reckon this fitting will work for replacing one on my old aeroquip setup with a -06 hose and 3/4-16 jic swivel

Fits standard -06 hoses just fine, with the 3/4-16 female JIC 37-degree flare swivel and 45-degree elbow setup for those 1 or 2 wire braid steel crimps.
