Will this fitting work with a standard -04 hydraulic hose?

got a -04 hose and need a straight male JIC end, is this the right one or am i mixin sizes up

fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose, does that mean it won't crimp right onto other hose types?

For shock hazard applications specifically, yes, you'll want to stick with H277 or H435. Those are the hose types this fitting is built to pair with for proper crimp performance and protection. Outside of shock hazard situations, it's rated for general purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic use, but the hose compatibility is tied to those two designations, so mixing in a different hose isn't something this fitting is set up for.
