Product Questions & Answers

trying to swap a fitting out, is this one the straight female JIC with 1/2-20 threads for a -04 hose?
Question by: Bobby P on Jan 17, 2026, 6:28 AM
It matches a 1/2-20 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel end on one side and is made to crimp onto a -04 hose, in a straight configuration.

got a -04 hose and need a straight female JIC end, is this the right one or am i mixin sizes up
Question by: Stan M on Nov 17, 2025, 6:00 PM
For a straight female JIC 37 degree flare connection on a -04 hose, this fitting matches that setup. It’s a 1/2-20 female JIC 37 degree flare and is called out for -04 hose size, so the thread and hose size line up for that common pairing.

fitting says no mandrel needed, just want to make sure i ain't gotta do anything special to get it seated right on the hose before crimping?
Question by: Earl W on Apr 29, 2025, 12:51 PM
Nothing extra is required on the hose end before you crimp. No mandrel gets inserted, and no thread sealant goes on the JIC end either. Just make sure you're working with a -04 hose and that the crimp tooling is set up correctly for the fitting diameter. The 37-degree flare on the JIC side handles the seal on its own once it's torqued down against a mating seat.

Will this fitting work okay for general hydraulic use, or is it for something specific?
Question by: Gary H on Oct 9, 2025, 8:38 PM
For general-purpose low and medium-pressure hydraulic applications, this steel crimp fitting is a good choice. It's also suitable where there might be some shock.
