got a -10 hose and need a straight male JIC end, is this the right crimp fitting for that?

fitting says no thread sealant needed, is that actually right for a JIC 37 degree flare?

Correct. The metal-to-metal sealing surface on a JIC 37-degree flare does the work, so thread sealant isn't needed and shouldn't be used. Adding tape or compound to that style of fitting can actually interfere with the seating and cause leaks rather than prevent them. This one's engineered to seal clean without it.
