trying to replace a fitting on a -10 hose, is this the straight one with 7/8-14 male JIC on the end?

For a straight male JIC 37 degree flare connection on a -10 hose, this fitting matches that setup. It uses a 7/8-14 male SAE 37 (JIC) thread on one end and is built as a steel crimp fitting for 1 and 2 wire braid hose.

fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose, does that mean it won't crimp onto other -10 hose types?

For this particular fitting, H277 and H435 are the specified compatible hoses. Using it with other -10 hose constructions isn't something the manufacturer data backs up, so sticking to those two hose types is the right call if you want a properly rated assembly.
