does this fitting work without any thread sealant, or do i need to tape it up before putting it on?

No sealant needed on this one. The 3/4-16 flareless tube connection on the Ermeto 7000 Series design handles the seal mechanically, so you can skip the tape and compound altogether. Keeps the install cleaner and cuts out one more step.

trying to swap out a straight crimp end i’ve got now, is this one the -08 hose size with a 3/4-16 flareless tube female end?

It matches a straight TTC permanent crimp fitting for -08 hose with a 3/4-16 flareless tube connection on the female end. It follows the Rigid Ermeto 7000 Series style and lists End Size 1 at 0.75 and End Size 2 at 0.5.
