Will this fitting hold up okay for general hydraulic use where you might get some shock?

Designed for general-purpose, low to medium pressure hydraulic applications, this fitting is suitable where shock hazards may be present when you use either H277 or H435 hoses.

trying to figure out if this fitting'll work with my H277 hose setup, is that actually a compatible match or do I need something different?

H277 hose is a confirmed compatible match for this fitting, and so is H435. The H435 option is worth considering in applications where shock loads or pressure spikes are part of the picture, since that's specifically what the H435 pairing is recommended for. Either way, both hoses work with this crimp fitting as intended.
