got a -08 hose and need a straight swivel end, is this the one with the G 1/2 female BSPP 60 degree cone?

Match it up by two things: it is built for -08 hose, and the thread is G 1/2 female BSPP with a 60 degree cone swivel. It is also a straight crimp fitting, so it lines up with a straight hose end setup.

fitting says no mandrel needed, does that mean I can just crimp it straight onto the hose without any extra prep work?

Correct, no mandrel is required for this fitting. You run the hose end through the crimp socket, seat the fitting, and crimp it down. Skipping the mandrel step cuts down on setup time, which makes a real difference when you're working through a batch of hose assemblies or dealing with tight deadlines on the shop floor.
