Retracted pin to pin length is 26.25 inches, and fully extended pin to pin length is 42.25 inches with the 16 inch stroke.

got a 4 inch bore cylinder that needs replacing on a log splitter, 16 inch stroke. the rod on mine looks pretty thin though, is 1.25 inches gonna hold up or should I be looking at something beefier?

For a log splitter running a 4-inch bore, a 1.25-inch rod is on the lighter side, and that matters more on the push stroke than people expect. The rated load on this cylinder comes in at 12,800 lbs, so it can move serious weight. That said, long-stroke cylinders like this one do carry a column load warning worth knowing about: at full extension, the pushing load rating drops to account for shaft buckling risk. The spec notes recommend a minimum safety factor of 2 when calculating your max push load. If your splitter is running at the upper end of its rated tonnage and the cylinder spends a lot of time near full extension, that's the real question to work through before committing.
