does this fitting need a mandrel to put on, or is it reusable right out of the box?

No mandrel required on this one. You slide it onto a -04 Teflon hose, and the reusable design means you can remove and reinstall it without needing any press equipment or special tooling. That alone cuts down assembly time pretty considerably on a job.

It matches a -04 hose on one end and a 1/4-18 male NPTF thread on the other, so it’s meant to go into a 1/4-18 NPT style female port with a dryseal type connection.
