fitting says no mandrel needed, that true for all sizes or just this one?

For this particular fitting, no mandrel is required during assembly. That applies to this -12 hose size with the 3/4-14 Male NPT connection. It simplifies the installation process considerably since you're not hunting down extra tooling just to get it seated right.
