Got a -06 hose I'm trying to fit up with a JIC connection. This the right part for that, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

For a -06 hose with a 9/16-18 female JIC 37-degree flare swivel, this fitting is the right match. It's an Eaton Aeroquip steel reusable, so it goes together without needing a crimp press. Just make sure the hose you're working with is 2-wire braid construction. If it's spiral or single-wire, you'd need a different fitting series.

I'm swapping out some lines on my backhoe, and this looks like it might fit the bill. Just want to be sure, it's got that JIC 37-degree flare, right?

That's right, this Eaton Aeroquip fitting features a 9/16-18 female JIC 37-degree flare swivel connection. Should do the trick for your backhoe lines, as long as you're working with -06 size hose.
