Will this fitting work with a standard -06 hose I already have?

does this fitting need any kind of sealant or mandrel when you're putting it together, or does it just go on as-is?

No sealant and no mandrel needed for assembly. The two-piece reusable design handles the connection without either of those, which makes field installation a lot more straightforward. Just follow standard JIC assembly practice and you're good to go.
