got a -10 hose I'm trying to fit up and need a straight male JIC end on it -- does this one go together without needing any special tools or a mandrel?

No mandrel required for this fitting. The two-piece reusable design lets you assemble it with standard wrenches, and the 1.12-inch hex size gives you a solid grip during installation. Thread sealant isn't needed either, so you're not adding extra steps to the job.
