trying to hook a 3/4 pipe thread line into a 1/2 port, but i need it to turn 90 degrees. is this the right adapter?

For that kind of step-down and turn, it matches a 3/4-14 male NPTF on one end and a 1/2-14 female NPTF on the other, built as a 90 degree elbow.

That's what this Eaton Aeroquip adapter is made for. It's a 90-degree elbow that'll let you connect a 3/4-14 male NPT to a 1/2-14 female NPT.

Got a spot where I need to drop down from a 3/4 male pipe thread to a 1/2 female pipe thread and make a 90-degree turn all in one shot. This fitting handle that?

That's what this adapter is built for. The male end is 3/4-14 NPT and the female end is 1/2-14 NPT, so you're stepping down a size and making your 90-degree direction change with a single piece.
