Will this here fitting work to go from a SAE O-ring to a pipe thread?

This adapter is indeed designed to transition between a 7/8-14 Male SAE O-Ring Boss and a 3/4-14 Male NPT thread.

got a port on my hydraulic manifold that's SAE O-Ring Boss and the line coming off it is NPT, will this adapter make that connection work straight off, or do I need something else in between?

That's exactly what this adapter handles. One end is 7/8-14 Male SAE O-Ring Boss and the other is 3/4-14 Male NPT, so it bridges those two thread formats in a single fitting with no extra pieces needed. The ORB end seals with an O-ring rather than thread sealant, which keeps that side of the connection clean and reliable. As long as your port accepts a 7/8-14 male ORB and your NPT line is 3/4-14, you're good to go.
