Running a hydraulic line off a pump that's got a 7/8-14 ORB port and need to tie into a JIC swivel fitting on the other end. This the right adapter to bridge that gap?

That's what this adapter is built for. One end threads into a 7/8-14 SAE O-Ring Boss port, which is your straight thread with the O-ring seal. The other end accepts a 7/8-14 Female JIC 37 degree flare swivel connection. Straight configuration, so no offset or angle to work around. It's from Eaton Aeroquip's 2266 Series and covers hydraulic, instrumentation, and chemical processing system applications.

i got a hose with a 7/8-14 jic female swivel on it, is this the piece that’ll mate up and still seal right

For a 7/8-14 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel, this adapter gives you the matching 7/8-14 JIC male flare on one side, and a 7/8-14 male SAE O-ring boss straight thread on the other side for the O-ring boss port connection.
