got a port that's 7/8-14 ORB and I need to plug it off, this the right part for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. The male end is 7/8-14 SAE O-Ring Boss, so it threads directly into a matching ORB port and seals it off clean. The O-ring seal is included with the part, listed as seal 22617-10, so you won't need to track one down separately before you put it in.

what industries is this plug rated for, like does it work in food processing or is it just for heavy equipment?

Eaton Aeroquip built this one for a pretty broad range of applications. It's listed for food and beverage processing, chemical processing, pulp and paper, marine and military use, and offshore drilling. So yeah, food processing is right in its wheelhouse alongside the heavier industrial stuff.
