Got a line coming off a hydraulic pump that needs a 45 degree turn before it hits the fitting block. this adapter go from a 1-1/2 NPT male thread to a 1-7/8-12 SAE male flare on the other end?

That's what this one does. One end is a 1-1/2 inch 11-1/2 thread male NPT, and the other end is a 1-7/8 inch 12 thread male SAE 45 degree flare. The elbow gives you that 45 degree change in direction right at the fitting, which works well when you're routing lines in tight quarters and need to avoid a sharp bend in the hose.

got a line with 1-1/2-11-1/2 male NPT, and i need to kick it over 45 degrees into a 37 flare. is this the right elbow?

Matches that setup. One end is 1-1/2-11-1/2 male NPT (NPTF external pipe) and the other end is 1-7/8-12 male SAE 37 degree flare, built as a 45 degree elbow in the Eaton Aeroquip 2023 series.
