trying to hook a pipe port to a JIC hose, is this the right adapter for that

For connecting a male NPT pipe thread to a male JIC 37 degree flare connection, this adapter matches that job. One end is 3/4-14 male NPT and the other end is 7/16-20 male JIC 37 degree flare, and it is a straight steel adapter.

fitting's got 3/4 NPT on one end and JIC on the other, that right?

Correct. One end is 3/4-14 male NPT and the other is 7/16-20 male JIC with a 37-degree flare seat. Both ends are male, so you'd be threading this into female receivers on each side. It's a straight adapter, no bends or offsets, made from steel by Brennan Industries.
