got a port that’s 3/8-18 npt and i need to go to a 9/16-18 jic. is this the straight adapter for that?

For that thread combo, yes. One end is 3/8-18 male NPTF and the other end is 9/16-18 male SAE 37 degree flare (JIC), and it is a straight adapter with male threads on both ends.
