got a hose end with a 7/16-20 jic swivel on it. is this the little adapter that’ll go into a 1/8 pipe port?

Matches that setup. It’s a straight steel adapter with a 1/8-27 male NPT pipe thread on one side and a 7/16-20 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel on the other.
