got a #14 male JIC on one end and a #12 male JIC on the other, is this the adapter that bridges those two sizes straight across?

That's what this one does. One end is 1-3/16-12 male JIC 37-degree flare and the other is 1-1/16-12 male JIC 37-degree flare, both in a straight configuration. No bends, no offsets. If you're trying to connect two lines where the thread sizes don't match up, this adapter handles that transition without any extra fittings in between.

got a hose end with 1-3/16-12 male JIC, and the other side i need is 1-1/16-12 male JIC. is this the straight union that’ll tie those together?

For joining two female JIC 37 degree flare ends, this adapter gives you a straight male JIC to male JIC union with 1-3/16-12 threads on one side and 1-1/16-12 threads on the other.
