Got a line running JIC fittings on one end and the other side is JIS with BSPP thread. Will this adapter actually bridge that gap or do I need something in between?

That's exactly what this one handles. One side is a 7/16-20 Male JIC with a 37 degree flare, and the other is a 1/4-19 Female JIS with a 30 degree flare seat on BSPP thread. No intermediate fitting needed. It connects those two thread and flare standards directly in a straight configuration, so you can tie the two lines together without adding extra joints to the assembly.

got a hose end that’s 7/16-20 JIC male, and the port i need to hit is JIS 30° female with 1/4-19 threads. is this the right adapter?

For that mix of ends, yes. It’s a straight steel adapter with a 7/16-20 male JIC 37° flare on one side and a 1/4-19 female JIS 30° flare seat with BSPP threads on the other, also called a #4 MJIC x #4 FJIS.
