got a line with 9/16-18 JIC, is this the right plug to cap it off?

For a 9/16-18 SAE 37 degree flare (JIC) connection, this is a matching steel hex plug in the Danfoss 900599 series. It is a straight 37 degree flare plug with 9/16-18 threads and is sized for 3/8 inch tube OD.

It sure is. This adapter plug is made to fit any standard 9/16-18 male JIC 37 degree flare fitting.
